WriterGal’s 2019 Year in Review

2019-12-30T16:17:04+00:00 By |Speaking, Success, WriterGal News|

Yes, it’s true. You are about to read another year in review blog article! It seems like this time of year that’s what everyone is doing they’re talking about their successes from the last year, what they’re looking forward to in the next year.

I am going to do just that!

But, there is a reason I’m doing this! Maybe for my own selfish reasons, because I want to celebrate my wins more. I know I don’t always celebrate them in the moment. So by doing an article like this, I can reflect back on what went well in my business what I need to change to do better in 2020. This will put my wins and goals out there in the world!

My 2019 Wins

In 2019, my business grew faster than I was expecting. I worked with so many new clients this year which was fantastic!

I was also really excited to be able to participate in several professional and business development workshops and seminars to build my skills in different areas (business planning, speaking in particular).

2019 was the year that I officially launched the speaking side of WriterGal Marketing. This year I gave about a dozen live blogging workshops and had dozens more take my online blogging courses and programs. My live workshop started as a 90-minute seminar, and has since turned into 3 hours of hands-on content where I go over what you need to know to plan, write, and promote our blog. This workshop has been given at various co-working spaces around the Vancouver and Fraser Valley, as well as several done in collaboration with Small Business BC.

I also gave several talks about blogging and content marketing and how repurposing and recycling content is the best way to produce multiple touchpoints with your target audience in different formats for different types of learners.

My Work-Life Balance Struggles

I’ll admit, it was a struggle. Balancing my work, my personal, and my family life. As some of you know I’ve got two young kids, and the are and will always be my priority. But my business is also a priority for me because writing and marketing is something that I’m really good at and enjoy doing.

In the coming year I’ll focusing more on prioritizing and blocking certain times for business and family so they both get my undivided attention when needed.

The Caffeinated Content Mastermind (January)

In January, I’m launching the first group of the Caffeinated Content Mastermind: a six-month, small group mastermind program where we focus specifically on blogging and content marketing. Participants get trainings, guest experts, peer support and accountability, and VIP access to me for all their content marketing coaching needs.

Peer support is going to be a huge part of this program. You’ll get at least 2-3 people reading every blog post you write before you publish it! And, of course, I’ll be providing my expert opinion on your content too so you can learn and grow as a blogger and as a marketer.

Birthday Week Template Giveaway! (January 13-17)

I’ve got a somewhat [undisclosed] milestone birthday coming on January 17 and I’m planning to celebrate by doing a 5 day template giveaway! Each day for the 5 days leading up to my birthday I will be releasing one free template. Make sure you are following my WriterGal Facebook page and are subscribed to my newsletter so you don’t miss notifications of these free gifts.

Marketing Plan VIP Days

Another exciting VIP service that I’m offering starting in January is called a VIP day. I’m calling it the Barista VIP Day

This is a day just for you and me where we sit down in person (if you’re in the Vancouver area) or over video chate (if you live elsewhere) and we hash out your entire year’s worth six to 12 months worth of content marketing planning for your business.

You get all my templates and resources. I will help you create your own templates and resources to help you execute your content marketing plan. VIP days will also come with priority email-based support for a period of time after your VIP day.

This day is really a chance to sit down and really focus on your business with the support of a content marketing expert. We’ll focus on what you need to get started right away, and so that it doesn’t take up all of your time.

Other odds, ends, and teasers for 2020

Here are some other exciting things that I’m planning for next year:

  • Expanding the online blog workshop: I plan to add more content and resources to the course.
  • More books coming: I have 2 anthology books (maybe more) coming out in 2020 and I have plans to publish my first solo book too. My book will share my detailed signature system for creating a content marketing plan for your business that is easy and effective.
  • Content Marketing Matters Podcast: I took a hiatus from the podcast last year (my computer was dying). I have a new computer now and plan to release a new podcast every 2 weeks!
  • Online Summits: I’m a featured speaker in the Authentic Marketing Summit at the end of January. I’ll be sharing some juicy tidbits about my signature blogging system and giving away an amazing bonus.
  • More speaking events: I am currently on the prowl for more events and organizations where I can share my marketing expertise or do workshops and trainings.

With all my new program and events, I can’t forget about my clients that I write content marketing for. I’m bringing on a team of subcontractors to help me be more efficient and get things done faster for my clients.

Wishing you an AMAZING 2020

So that is all that I’m at liberty to share at the moment about my plans for the next year. But as always, everything’s in motion. Things are changing. I’m going to wake up a 2am tomorrow night with another amazing idea. My goal for 2020 is to educate more people about blogging and content marketing so that I can empower them to do it themselves, or who want to learn the basics, so they can hire someone to do it for them (like me and my WriterGal Marketing team).

Thank you for being on this journey with me these past few years. Your support is one of the biggest reasons I have to keep going in my business so THANK YOU!

More exciting things are coming soon. I wish you all a very merry holiday season and a happy New Year filled with everything you need in life!
